GLIMPSES OF A NEW LIFE[/blockquote]
NAME: Aria Pyre
GENDER: Female
AGE: Unknown
SEASON OF BIRTH: Unknown
SEXUALITY: Didn't get to explore it much in life, but straight.
SPECIES: Ghost
PACK:Heavens
ARE REFLECTED ALL AROUND YOU[/blockquote]
SHORT DESCRIPTION {Describe their appearance in one secntence.}
APPEARANCE: Aria's soul has been in the heavens since the very first land war. Back in her time, gods were worshipped and were in the mortal world even more often than the heavens. She used to have many markings, but they have all faded away. So has the color of her eyes, which are just gray except when she is extremely happy, in which case, they briefly flash fiery orange. Her fur is wispy and gray from being dead so long, however, it used to be a vibrant red. She has no scent, and if you reach out and touch her, unless she wants to be touched, you'll feel nothing, as she is transparent. When she allows herself to be touched, her fur actually feels soft. Her teeth are jagged, though she doesn't often show them. Her walk is very graceful and fluid. She has a very slender build, and looks as if she is starving.
She has no scars or markings unless she wills herself to have them. Her voice is ancient-sounding. She has a lot of hidden sorrow, and looks as if she has all the weight of the world on her shoulders at times.
ALWAYS THERE TO GUIDE YOU[/blockquote]
LIKES: The feeling of responsibility.
Sunshine and warm temperatures.
Night time.
DISLIKES:
Fire
Loneliness
Doing nothing
Fighting
FEARS: Watching as the world burns, unable to do anything about it.
Even worse than that, she fears her own actions causing destruction.
ELEMENT: Fire
PERSONALITY:In life, Aria was a vibrant loner of the fire element, always working to help others, despite her limitations. She would only take the path that was right for her. Unfortunately, as good as she was, she also felt a very powerful hatred for her father, the fire god. She used fire to sear wounds shut, fight back against bandits and assassins, and warm cold places. She had an unwavering moral code and sense of nobility. She was a hero for her time.
Now, in the afterlife, she isn't so vibrant, and does not fight. She does her job of sorting out which ghosts should go where in the Dead Lands quickly and efficiently. She is still likeable, and still has many who would follow her, but she isn't the same anymore. Her only sense of right and wrong now is merely, what Darlos wants her to do is right and what he doesn't is wrong. She may still have a moral compass deep down, but she doesn't use it anymore.
She wanted to change the world for the better in life, and now, in death, she just goes with the flow. She doesn't try to interfere, unless the circumstance is very extreme. In life, she would have fought until the bitter end over what she believed. In death, she makes her points, then backs off. She is freer in death than she was in life, but she still feels lonely, and is usually satisfied, but rarely ever happy.
Aria will always stand up for those who can't do so for themselves, dead or alive, yet in death, she isn't as passionate about it. It seems as though her personality has been weathered by time, but with her death comes a certain wisdom. She can tell by looking at another dead wolf how they died, and who they were in life. She can tell by looking at a live wolf what their personality is, and, if she's close to them (as in, if they're friends, not, like, in proximity), what their biggest fears are. In life and in death, others always consider her a threat.
I'VE FOUND THE BRIGHTNESS[/blockquote]
FAMILY:Mother
God of fire - Father
HISTORY The god of fire met Aria's mother during one of his escapades to the Pack Lands. He was attracted to the she-wolf because she was the then-alphess of that particular pack. She was a very vibrant alphess, leading the pack with confidence and kindness. She was of the fire element, and already knew the god when she saw him, as it was because of him that she earned her Master mark. Back in this time, gods themselves challenged elemental wolves for them to earn Master marks. She thought of him fondly, and he remembered her just as well. They made love, and it was assumed that the baby that would result would be the best alphess the world had ever seen.
Unfortunately, Aria's mother died giving birth to her, and the fire god ignored her. When she was a pup, she was hidden away from her pack by the nobles, who knew that the beta-turned-alpha would stop at nothing to kill the pup, Aria. When she was old enough to travel on her own, she was sent away.
Aria traveled far and wide, picking up the morals she developed along the way. She was the most powerful fire wolf of her time, and didn't understand why. Her fire was beyond her control for the first couple months of travel, being at her will one day and not at all the next. She taught herself how to control this flame before it was too late. She largely helped others with her powers, which turned the notion that all fire and fire wolves could do was burn things down and cause destruction. She found a way to draw on other energy besides anger and hatred for herself, focusing instead on using the fire of determination for her spells.
She never knew she felt bitter about being abandoned by the fire god until he showed up to train her for her Master mark. It wasn't this bitterness that caused her to hate him, though. It was because he was so rough on her during training, actually burning her and setting her on fire several times. It was that he burned down a whole forest, just to show her how powerful she could be, and then attacked her when she tried to go in and save the wolves that lived there. It was that he blamed her for her mother's death, and constantly attacked her during training. All of these combined are what made her hate him.
She managed to earn her Master mark, and she did learn that she hailed from the old pack, so she went there to claim her alphess rank. Apparently, they had known she was coming a long time before she actually arrived, because when she did, her home was crawling with assassin wolves. The wolves had been there partly to avenge their brethren, who Aria sometimes defeated in order to save a particularly noble wolf's life, and partly because the current alpha of the pack hired them. Aria put up a fight, a very good fight. She set the area around her ablaze in an attempt to protect herself as she hurled fireballs at her opponents. But, in this time, assassin wolves were very cunning, and they got through her defenses, forcing her to retreat further. She fought the hardest she ever had, but there were just too many, and she died. She wasn't only killed, she was dismembered.
When she died, it was determined she would go to the heavens, having been such a good wolf in life. But she avoided the fire god as much as she possibly could in death. So, when the gods seemed to disappear, she was actually secretly grateful, though she kept that thought to herself.
It's been centuries, at least, since she died, and she has picked up the ability of reading other wolves. She could not bring her fire power with her in death, but she does not need it. She really likes Darlos, and doesn't mind spending an eternity working for him.
MAGIC: In life, Aria had six spells. They were: In life, she had many spells, such as:
Heat Transfer: She could move the heat around her, reducing fevers by this means or making the cold wolves warmer. If there wasn't any heat around her, then she'd have to use her own body heat for this transfer, and if she couldn't release the heat she received from this somehow, she'd likely cause permanent damage to herself or die.
Fire Breath: She could breathe fire. This wasn't very effective in long-range combat, but it worked as a scare tactic, and it worked well in short-range. She needed the energy and breath for this spell, so she couldn't do it well if she was winded.
Wound Sear: In medical emergencies, when wounds inflicted by other wolves and are open so the victim would die otherwise, Aria would ignite her front paw and sear the wound shut. She could only do this if she felt the wolf was worth saving, and it would drain her considerably.
Heat of the Moment: When Aria felt the need to do so, she could ignite her whole body. This would be particularly useful as a shield, and that's partly why she was able to live so long against the assassins. However, the fire would still burn her, and if she used this move for an extended period of time, she'd turn to ash.
Ring of Fire: Aria could make a ring of fire around herself for added protection. The energy it takes to make it is not very much, but sustaining a ring of fire costs a lot. She still does feel the heat, and keeping it up too long could, of course, drain all her energy and kill her.
Fireball: Aria could throw one or multiple fireballs at her opponent. The more fireballs she casts at once, the more energy she uses. The bigger problem with this spell was accuracy. The bigger the fireball, the more energy it costs, and the more likely it'd be to drift and miss her opponent. Even small fireballs, though, could miss quite easily. Therefore, she'd only use this spell if she felt there was no other way out of her situation.
Now that she is dead, Aria can no longer use any spells. She simply lacks the determination and energy. Even if she returned to using the rage of herself or others for energy, she simply doesn't get angry enough. So, no more spells.
THE PUPPET MASTER[/blockquote]
NICKNAME: {What CAN we call you on here?}
WHY YOU JOINED: Because I was a member of the old site and I loved that place, so here I am.
HOW YOU FOUND US: Ummm...Rivvy sent me the e-mail that linked me here?
ROLE PLAY SAMPLE: Aria Pyre wandered through the heavens, unable to shake the bad feeling she had. Everywhere she walked, her fellow dead wolves seemed to stare. Whether it was because they sensed her unease or other reasons, she didn't know.
"Something terrible's about to happen..." Aria muttered. "Unless my intuition's wrong this time..." She took a deep breath. But it's rarely ever wrong... "I think...I think I have to go back to the mortal world! The time for me to return is now!"
She felt cold glares from the other wolves. She knew she'd be breaking one of the biggest rules of all. If she went to the mortal world and tried to prevent the catastrophe, whatever it would be (she still had no idea what even would cause such a feeling in her), she'd be brought to the underworld automatically, without question, if she died there. It used to be so much simpler with the gods around. She would've been able to talk to the goddess of life and see if she could be reborn. Now, things were different. If she went to the mortal world, she'd feel the pull from the underworld every single day, and eventually, it would win.
Is it worth eternal suffering to save many lives? Yes. But what if she was wrong? Or, what if...she failed?
