HARDLY ANYTHING LEFT FOR YOU TO SEE[/blockquote]
NAME:Galene {gal-een}
Nickname(s):Gal
GENDERFemale
AGE:4 years
SEASON OF BIRTH:Summer
SEXUALITY:Heterosexual
SPECIES:Elemental
PACK:Erebus
WASH THE SORROW FROM MY SKIN[/blockquote]
SHORT DESCRIPTIONscarlet, feathery pelt; black markings on legs and tail tip; teal eyes; strong legs; average frame
APPEARANCE:
pelt --
Galene inherited the scarlet fur of her mother. It is a rich red hue, similar to the color of the horizon when the sun sets. Tinges of ginger and orange blend into the darker, more dominant scarlet with varying consistency. The auburn colors are predominant on her soft face while the darker reddish color is most evident along her back and around her neck. Galene's pelt is not completely red, black markings are also present on her fiery pelt. Her long legs are colored with an ashy black from her toes to just above her foreleg. Black also tips her tail, though it is not as large of a marking as the ones on her legs.
Her fur is true to the fiery nature of her pack, Erebus. Galene resembles a gentle flame, not too bright, but just orange enough to look like fire. Her pelt is hard to conceal, however, and that sometimes hinders her ability to hunt, especially during the winter moons. Galene can easily be spotted in a crowd because of her noticeable fur coat.
build --
Like her father, Galene has noticeably muscular legs. While the rest of her body is lean and trim, her legs are laced with power. Because of her strong limbs, Galene is capable of enduring long-distance sprinting and tackling larger game. The strength of her legs does not contribute to grace, in fact, her strong gait is far from dainty. Galene's legs could be helpful in combat if such was accepted in her pack. However, she has been restricted to hunting duty and therefore has not used her powerful legs' full potential.
Otherwise, Galene is a slender she-wolf. She lacks a balanced distribution of muscle and therefore her only strength lies in her legs. Her shoulders, neck, and the rest of her body are wiry and unfit for too much strenuous work. If not for her long fur, her smaller frame would be much more obvious. Perhaps it is beneficial for Galene to seem stronger than she is in such a hostile world.
face --
The light ginger color of her face accentuates the feminine beauty of Galene. Her round facial features are framed with feathery, pastel orange fur. Her snout is almost a whitish color and it is short, not too narrow like a fox or a coyote. Her eyes are lined with black, which flatters the teal color of them. Light spots of auburn rest above her narrow eyes, similar to eyebrows. Her eyes are the most expressive feature of her body because of the unique features present.
scent --
Since she was born in the summer, Galene has a warmer scent. It is reminiscent of sweet summer dew and warm, golden honey. It is sweet yet fresh and soft on the nose. There is a slight tang of game in her scent because of her constant hunting duties.
SECRETS THAT I HAVE SEEN[/blockquote]
LIKESlistening, understanding, peace, friendship, unity, stability
DISLIKES:cheaters, violence, lying, being ignored, gore
FEARS:change, domination, betrayal, exclusion
ELEMENT:water
PERSONALITY:observant//obsessive --
Some are meant to speak and others to listen. Galene was meant to listen. She has just the right amount of patience and understand to construct a very observant lifestyle. She is able to pay attention to her environment and note every detail without losing interest. Galene prefers to watch her comrades and learn about them from afar over approaching them and investigating them on a more personal level. She feels most comfortable keeping quiet and letting everyone else do the talking. She is, however, nowhere near shy. Galene can speak her mind just as easily as the next wolf, she just prefers not to. Galene knows more about everyone in her pack than they could ever know about herself; she likes it that way. Even when she is around close friends and family, Galene's naturally attentive nature encourages everyone else to do the speaking besides her.
Sometimes, Galene's constant observing of others leads her into obsessive tendencies. It is not rare for her to catch herself watching one wolf with more intensity than another. Some wolves imprint on her observations so prominently, she will think about them nonstop. Galene keeps her obsession secret and downplays it well, but if one pays acute attention to her, the signs are obvious. When it comes to her surveying of her environment, Galene also obsesses over constant awareness. She does not like to be left in the dark and routinely tries to learn more and more about what is going on around her.
loyal//jealous --
Those that Galene trusts and befriends are rarely forgotten or ignored. She is always around to support and assist those she respects and favors, not caring if the feelings she has are returned. Because of her observance of those around her, Galene can easily feel devotion for someone completely unaware of her presence. Galene's loyalty is unconditional once she accepts someone into her life. Her undying loyalty is not exaggerated; the bonds she builds with others can never be broken. No matter how rotten someone is, if Galene feels devoted to them, she will never turn away. Galene is capable of befriending even the most sinister of wolves if given the chance, which can be self-destructive. If a wolf makes a friend of Galene, they have a friend for life, a friend that will do almost anything to keep them satisfied.
Galene's darkest attribute his her passionate jealousy. She can be quite selfish of her friends since she does not like to share. Galene is not outspoken of her jealous feelings but she can drop biting hints now and then to those she feels are "stealing" he friends away. Galene wants her friends to stick by her side, not someone else's. Perhaps the largest downfall to her possessiveness is how easily it stings. Considering how strong Galene's loyalty is, if she feels betrayed it tears her from the inside out.
serene//submissive --
Galene is very tranquil and refined. She is not one to stir up trouble or antagonize others. Galene likes everything to run smoothly so she often avoids confrontation. If pitted against someone, Galene would be the first to surrender if it meant dodging an argument. She prefers peaceful resolutions over violence, though even she can be pushed to force (very rare but not impossible). Her calm disposition is relaxing to those that need it; it is unheard of for Galene to annoy someone intentionally. It is up to the opinion of others if Galene's composure and avoidance of confrontation is a sign of maturity or cowardice.
Perhaps Galene is a coward, it would explain why she is so submissive. She will bend for authority if required and is not rebellious in the slightest. This blatant compliance may be rooted in her fear of dominance. Galene does not like to be pushed around or forced to do anything, so she will automatically agree to any command in order to avoid punishment or severe dictation. She does not shiver or flinch at the sight of authority, Galene is able to conceal her fright with a passive aura.
consistent//stern --
Not fickle or flighty, Galene keeps a steady pace and attitude. She is not spontaneous or wild, she prefers to keep everything in line and organized. Any inconsistency in her life is unsatisfactory. As stated earlier, Galene likes to be aware of the details in her life, and therefore does not like change to throw everything into disarray. Galene likes order and predictability, it makes her feel safe; she has a strict daily routine that she rarely strays from. Though some may see this lifestyle boring, Galene is quite satisfied.
Not appreciating change, if someone messes with her scheme of things Galene becomes greatly irritated. She may come off as stern because of how organized her life is. Her unwillingness to change up things and live everyday different from the one before may seem stubborn and strict, even dull. A fluctuating schedule is something Galene cannot handle, it makes her feel antsy and vulnerable to surprises, two things she does not enjoy.

FAMILY:Mother -- Tethys
Father --Ladon
Siblings -- open
Mate -- open
Offspring -- N/A
HISTORYmorning's gentle dew
Galene's parents did not have the most loving relationship predating her birth. The alpha matched them with each other because of their complimentary abilities. Ladon was built for speed and endurance and Tethys had the stealthier build perfect for stalking prey. If they had pups together, they would produce worthy hunters and quick fighters. However, Ladon loved another she-wolf and Tethys was far too rambunctious for his taste. They often butt heads and disagreed on almost everything.
The two wolves did what was expected of them and, after many moons of avoiding each other, finally had a litter. It was the early summer, a time of plenty, when Galene was brought to the world. Immediately after the birth of Galene, Ladon noticed something different about her. She did not have an acrid, ashy odor like most fire wolves nor did she have the bright amber eyes, eyes of flame. Instead, Galene had the scent of morning dew. Suspicious Ladon and worried Tethys began to suspect the worst.
As a youthful pup, Galene was not as fiery or rough as the others. She preferred to keep to herself and watch others, the exact opposite of fire wolf behavior. Tethys thought Galene was ill at first and constantly sought medical attention for her daughter.
Nothing was wrong.
Ladon began to suspect Galene was not his pup and took his anger out on Tethys. At a young age, Galene witnessed heated arguments between her parents, arguments that occasionally led to violence. Terrified and confused, Galene began to wonder if something was wrong with her too.
rough waters
As she grew, Ladon's mistake became more apparent. It was obvious that Galene was his daughter because of their similar build. However, Ladon never fessed up to his misconception, much to Tethys' disappointment. However, there was still one problem, Galene never displayed any sign of elemental power, fire or not. Tethys claimed she was a late bloomer, Ladon believed Galene was hiding something.
Ladon constantly interrogated his daughter, wanting to know the truth. When Tethys was not looking, Ladon would often use force to coax his child into using her magic. Galene hesitated and often took the beating rather than choosing to fight. A horrified Tethys begged for Galene to cooperate and eventually, she did.
Galene revealed her biggest secret to her parents: she inherited water magic.
As expected, both of her parents were shocked. Ladon and Tethys both had distant relatives with water magic (mostly on Ladon's side) but they were so far down the family line, it seemed almost impossible for a pup to be gifted with them.
In an attempt to make up for his roughness, Ladon offered to help Galene with her special magic. He helped train her the best he could, wanting the best for his daughter-a minority among fire wolves. She learned slowly, fire magic being the complete opposite of water magic did not help when Ladon trained her.
As for Tethys, she rejected her daughter's element entirely. In a pack were fire was dominant and water was the enemy, she saw it as impossible for Galene to settle with a proper mate. "No fire brute wants a water elemental," she would often tell Galene.
lonely, rolling river
Ladon passed in the autumn of Galene's third year. His tumultuous life in the battalion took its toll and he died as a result of wound complications. Ladon's demise was hard on Galene and Tethys, but life moved on and the resumed life as normal. It was harder for Galene to accept her father's death; no longer would they practice together and enjoy each others company.
Galene and Tethys grew further apart after Ladon died. Tethys told Galene to hide her power instead of practice it like Ladon encouraged. Galene struggled to adjust to her mother's goading but slowly began to conceal her magic.
MAGIC (3/6)
Scald:
The first technique Galene learned was to regurgitate a boiling mass of water out of her mouth. Likely due to her strong fire roots, Galene is able to expel the hot water from her mouth without injury. Galene is able to drench her opponent in the scalding water, burning them from head to toe. Galene struggles with her aim, however, and may often burn allies on accident if they get too close.
Steam Cloak:
From the depths of Galene's fiery pelt rises a mass of thick, blistering hot steam. The thick water vapor can conceal her form and prevent others from getting too close. Those brave enough to go through her steaming mist will suffer eye irritation and possible suffocation if Galene manages a dense enough cloak. Galene cannot dispel her cloak easily, she cannot reabsorb her steam or send it somewhere else; once it leaves her pelt, it cannot be controlled and can slowly consume everything around her.
Blood Boiling
Galene's newest, darkest, and most complicated technique is causing the temperature of her enemy's blood to rise. It requires intense concentration and is hard to accomplish if her opponent is moving. Depending on how high she manages to raise the temperature, her victim can suffer a minor fever or even burn to death from the inside out. Galene prefers not to use this technique and only has enough experience to induce fevers.

ROLE PLAY SAMPLE:
Takeshi stared at the night sky, watching the stars twinkle down on White Guard. He never believed in a higher power beyond the Konigen, but he felt the need to pray to anything. He gazed at the stars and begged for his pack's survival, for Xianta's survival. He sighed afterwards, feeling silly for praying to the silent, indigo sky. There's nothing up there… How foolish of me. Takeshi grudgingly looked away from the shimmering stars.
Suddenly a silken voice sounded from behind. Takeshi glanced back to see the white she-wolf, Xianta, had awoken and joined him. The words she spoke caused him to smile, but not with happiness, something more somber spread on his face. I may not be alone now, but after this winter, I could be the only one left. Takeshi hunched his broad shoulders, trying to contain his pessimism.
The alpha stared ahead at the peaceful camp as Xianta sat beside him. He relished her closeness, wanting her to remain there forever. Takeshi wished his pack could always live like this, away from the dreaded foxes and the Empire, safely sleeping together as a family.
Xianta spoke again, this time it was a request. Takeshi flashed a quizzical look. It was a strange request; she wanted to hear a secret. Takeshi rarely shared his secrets with anyone, not even his closest friend that sat beside him; to reveal one now brought on an uncomfortable feeling. But he also trusted Xianta more than anyone and if he was to disclose a secret to anybody, it would be her.
"A secret?" He echoed, his gravelly voice quiet in the dark of night. He narrowed his eyes; the scar marring his left eye caused it to look closed. "Let me think..."
It was too bad the most important secret he kept was one he was too stubborn to share: the reason behind his solo leadership, the reason why he never chose to share his position with a she-wolf. Takeshi pondered for a moment longer, thinking of a secret appropriate to tell her.
Discomfort caused his mottled fur to prickle but his expression remained stolid.
"I am… afraid." He whispered, his deep voice still managing a tiny echo throughout the barren territory. "I am afraid for my pack; ever since Blue Moon told me of what was to come, the hellish feeling of fear continued to haunt me." Takeshi stared at the sky again, remembering his earlier wish. "I fear for them as if they were my own flesh and blood going into battle."
Takeshi rarely expressed his fears but he felt safe enough around Xianta to voice his worries. His bright amber gaze locked on Xianta's golden eyes. "I am afraid for you the most." He paused, reigning in the flurry of confessions that danced on his tongue. "You are my… closest friend, if I lost you…"
He trailed off, knowing he already lost Xianta once. He lost her to a fellow packmate who was able to share his passion before Takeshi worked up the nerve. It was one of Takeshi's biggest regrets but he never once considered ruining their relationship. He knew how happy Xianta was and he was content with watching her living with someone else if it meant preserving that memorable smile.
Takeshi chuckled, trying to ignore the bittersweet memories. "But I know we are strong. White Guard will prevail, we always have." He smiled at her. "I know you will lead my warriors well." Takeshi was more or less convincing himself of those things, but it felt nice to tell Xianta too.
He wanted to get far away from the subject of secrets and fear. "You came to me while I slept…" he muttered, finally deciding to ask about it, "why?"
